"Children are not small adults" – this mission statement of the Paediatric Surgery Department underscores the fact that children deserve and need special surgical care that is different from adult surgery. The paediatric patient surgery spectrum comprises extremely premature babies that weigh just 500 g as well as overweight adolescent patients prior to their 18^th birthday. To meet these unique needs, we need a team of children’s experts on all levels.

Three experienced specialized paediatric surgery physicians work at the Elisabeth-Krankenhaus Rheydt under the management of Mr. Walter Rommen. As part of the Paediatric and Adolescents Centre, our team works particularly closely with paediatricians, nurses and other professional disciplines specializing in the treatment of children. Hence, optimum child-adequate services are ensured under all aspects in a child-appropriate environment. An on-call service ensures that paediatric surgery services are also available around the clock.
