Vascular diseases are the most common overall.
Hence, it makes sense to treat patients suffering from diseases of the blood vessels (arteries, veins) at a vascular centre that covers all vascular medicine disciplines.
This includes vascular surgery, vascular radiology/interventional radiology and internistic vascular medicine (angiology).
The Vascular Centre Mönchengladbach at the Elisabeth-Krankenhaus Rheydt comprises the following partners:
Nowadays, vascular surgery does not only include reconstructive measures aiming at restoring the blood flow. Increasingly, what experts call endovascular procedures, for instance, the aorta stent, are part of the spectrum. Besides arterial surgeries, the Vascular Centre Mönchengladbach also makes available to dialysis patients shunt surgery as well as the entire vein surgery portfolio.
Interventional radiology is rapidly gaining importance in vascular medicine. If major surgeries were always required to reopen blood vessels, blockages and restrictions can now frequently be addressed with balloon expansions (PTA) and stent implants. Our Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology specializes in these procedures.
